If you believe your pet food is one of those that have been recalled, discard the product and wash any containers or surfaces that may have come in contact with the food.  Since Salmonella can make people ill, it is important that you wash your hands after handling the food.

Even if your pet’s food is not on the recall list, we recommend you always wash your hands after preparing your pet’s food, to reduce the risk of illness.

Salmonella can cause decreased appetite, fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy in pets.
